Android game development

So.....   I'm talking to an old friend, a colleague I worked with in 92 - 96 or so.  As most of the work I've done in my commercial game development history, was as in an artist/design capacity, I found the SDK for android a bit daunting.   I have some scripting experience, and can handle some coding tasks, but as soon as I have to start managing memory and thread tasks, I lose motivation.  I just don't have enough time in the day to work full time, handle my non-work related commitments, and learn enough about Java to handle the coding task as well as providing art for an android game.  I looked at Flash, and considered the possibility of publishing something as an air app, and I might still.  In theory I can write something in Flash, and Flash builder, and it should 'insulate' me so to speak from dealing with the intricacies and details of handling the hardware differences between android phones and resolution differences.   I'm considering working in conjunction with another developer as I've found it can be really helpful to have someone on the other side of a project, that's waiting for stuff from me to keep me plugging away every night.  Case in point:  I worked on a few little things with another peer of mine, Alvin Wong,  developing some stuff for the Iphone  last year, and it really helped drive the process forward at a regular rate.  I'd love to hear comments from people that are currently developing any games for android, and what they're experiences are using Different SDK's, and or approaches to mobile game development targeting android.
